I’m Rupert and this site is essentially the story of my battles, trials, wins and losses whilst growing fruit, vegetables and cut flowers on Plot 13 at Hampton Court Way Allotment. I’ve had an allotment for many years now and was a finalist on the BBC2 show The Big Allotment Challenge.

For the most part, the plot is divided into rectangular, raised beds that make planting and sowing a little more manageable, if slightly less space efficient. However there are a several permanent beds, including various berries, asparagus, cut flowers, herbs, rhubarb and artichoke. Finally there is the obligatory allotment shed, compost bin and a barbeque area with a few fruit trees.

I’m aided in this horticultural adventure by my beautiful wife who also uses the output of the plot to make tasty nibbles to sustain us.
